For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. - Romans 1:19-20 (ESV)
Greetings. I believe that God has revealed Himself to us and continues to reveal Himself to us. He does so that we might know him. As we get to know Him, we move closer to His heart. We come to love Him, worship Him, and stand in awe.
There are many ways He does this; the basic three are through the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and what is sometimes called general knowledge. God wants us to know Him. As such, He covers all bases when revealing Himself to us.
Part of God’s revelation is that we do not and can not measure up to His very essence. This we discover early reading His Word is because of the fall. The fall was the result of a choice that God’s way was not the right way. It is a choice we make all the time. We say, “I know better than God.” It is the basic sin we all make.
Sin is a wall between God and us. There is nothing we can do to tear the wall down; we are incapable of that act. We instead build it up. HOWEVER, God can tear down the wall — He took that step through His Son, Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life”
That is God’s revelation to us in a nutshell: we need salvation, only He can save us, and He does save us when we place our faith in Him. We must say, “I do not know better; God’s way is the only way.” That is belief in God.
